J.H. Gehrmann, nephew of Montana Rancher Conrad Kohrs, reminisces about the Kohrs family, and their ranching operation in the Deer Lodge Valley. Also included are a map (1904) drawn by Gehrmann of the Kohrs Ranch, and genealogical charts of the Kohrs family. (SC 1255)

John H. Gehrmann was born in Walkerville, Montana, March 24, 1892, the son of W. H. and Helen Gehrmann. Helen was the daughter of Henry Kohrs, older brother of Conrad. John grew up in Davenport, Iowa, but spent many summers on the Kohrs ranch in Deer Lodge. He worked for the Kohrs Packing Company, which his father managed in Davenport. By 1930 William Gehrman was president of the company, and John supervised the plant. John H. Gehrmann died in Davenport in July 1985. From the descrip...
